The ninth annual Saxon Investment Club program for local high school and college students recently launched for the 2017-2018 school year.
Saxon Investment Challenge is an extra-curricular program that allows students to gain practical insights into investing, money, the stock market, stock trends, and starting and running a business. The program runs from October 2017 to March 2018.
Students will benefit from demo accounts set up by OneTRADEx, whose trading platform is built on software that operates in real time and produces reports of investing activities. A team of Saxon coordinators will administer the program.
"Saxon is pleased to have such a great response from Schools this year, we have Cayman Prep, St. Ignatius, JGHS, CHHS, Hope Academy, Cayman International School and Layman E Scott High School participating this year.," stated Brian Williams, CEO of Saxon.
Students simulate real life trades, using an initial sum of $100,000 which they are given to invest. They work in teams and are supervised by teachers who monitor their learning and progress. Monthly prizes are awarded for top performance and at the end of the six-month program, a winning team is selected, based on the highest net value of the investments made. Prizes are as follows: $2500 USD for first place, $1000 USD for second place and $500 USD for third place.  The programme is supported by generous contributions & support from Saxon, Silver Thatch Pensions, OneTRADEx and the Ministry of Education, Youth, Sports, Agriculture & Lands.
