Yello has launched the eagerly anticipated Community Recycling Program "Yellow2Green".  Starting this week, communities and businesses are invited to participate in one of the most impactful environmental initiatives within the Cayman Islands.  An island-wide annual event, Yellow2Green is an eco-friendly program that has saved more than 170,000 directories from the George Town landfill and created reusable materials for home insulation.

" We share in the passion for the preservation of our environment and are excited to partner with local retailers that will act as drop off centers for the used books"  said Melanie Shambaugh, Marketing Manager, Yello .

Yellow2Green recycling containers will be placed in seven convenient locations throughout Grand Cayman. These locations include Foster's Food Fair: Airport, The Strand, Republix and Countryside, Hurley's Supermarket, The Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce and Yello office located across from Airport Post Office. Plus, we will collect on Cayman Brac this year! Drop off locations include West End Primary School, Creek & Spot Bay Junior School, Layman E. Scott High School and UCCI campus.

The recycling drive culminates the weekend before Earth Day, Sunday April 23rd.  All old and used directories that have been collected will be palletized and shipped to GreenFiber recycling plant in the United States.  The phone books are then converted into a special material that will be used for home insulation that aids in energy efficiency.

Yellow2Green partners include Foster's Food Fair, Hurley's Supermarket, Tropical Shipping, X107.1 and Kiss 106.1 and we appreciate their collaborative approach to help activate the community to recycle.

In previous years, Yello has also promoted recycling in schools through the Yellow2Green School Challenge that takes place every other year at the request the schools and will return next year in 2018.
