The National Weather Service has issued an updated advisory for Hurricane Beryl. As of the latest information, Hurricane Beryl is a Category 3 storm, located approximately 110 miles SE of Grand Cayman. The storm is moving WNW at a speed of 21 mph with maximum sustained winds of 125 mph.
Current conditions at the GCM Airport report 0 mm (0 inches) of rainfall and wind speeds of E at 16 knots (18 mph), gusting to 22 knots (25 mph). Based on model estimations, wave heights are expected to be between 6 to 8 feet, accompanied by a storm surge of 2 to 4 feet, particularly along the south coasts.
The projected onset of tropical storm force winds is currently being experienced in Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, while Grand Cayman is expected to start experiencing these winds on Thursday, 4 July, at 12:30 AM. The closest point of approach for the storm's centre will be 60 miles south of Grand Cayman at approximately 5:30 AM on Thursday. Cayman Brac will see the centre pass 109 miles south around 12:30 AM, and Little Cayman will experience the centre passing 104 miles south around 1:30 AM on Thursday.
The end of tropical storm force winds is projected for Cayman Brac on Thursday, 4 July, at 6:30 AM, Little Cayman at 7:00 AM, and Grand Cayman at 12:30 PM.
