Androgroup Elevator are delighted to announce that they have hired three young Caymanians to be trained in the elevator trade. The apprentices; Kaleb Carter (aged 18), Ben Ebanks Morales (aged 17) and Pierre Ordonez (aged 22) will learn how to install, maintain and replace elevator systems across the Cayman Islands. They will start off at the apprentice stage where they will be paired with Androgroup Elevator’s experienced service technicians who will train them to move onto becoming full service licensed and insured technicians.
The young apprentices began their training at Androgroup Elevator on January 6th2020. Pierre Ordonez shared, “I look forward to learning a new trade and establishing myself as a valuable asset to the company and as a young Caymanian, aiding in the exposure of a unique and growing technical career path that is available to Caymanians locally.”
The need for skilled tradesmen in our islands is significant. This is a career path that can benefit many Caymanians and we encourage the youth of today to not only look towards financial services and tourism as future career paths but also the trades. “I am excited for the opportunity to develop skills in this career to benefit me in the long run. The hands on training is great, it allows me to put what I learned from the books into the real thing.” Kaleb Carter said.
Reflecting on the experience so far, Ben Ebanks Morales commented, “Working with Androgroup Elevator will help to improve my communication, safety, teamwork, leadership skills as well as time management. These skills are much needed in this industry as they are applied on a day to day basis. The skills that I learn here will stick with me forever.”
“Throughout my career I was blessed to work with people that helped me grow and develop. I am now able to offer the knowledge I’ve gained, back to the youth of the Cayman Islands and foster the growth of local talent.” said Christopher Allen – Operations Manager from Androgroup Elevator. “We welcome these apprentices with open arms and encourage them to work safely and learn daily.”
