The Elections Office is pleased to announce that the Revised Register of Electors has now been published, with a total of 25,687 registered voters ahead of the upcoming General Election on 30 April 2025. This represents an 8.8% increase from April 2021, when the total stood at 23,609. During the recent registration period, 1,858 new voters were added to the electoral roll.
Her Excellency the Governor, Jane Owen, welcomed the increase in voter registration, stating: "I am pleased that we have welcomed nearly 2,000 voters to our register of electors in recent weeks — a clear sign of Caymanians' commitment to the democratic process. Thank you to everyone who registered and updated their information, and to our dedicated election officials and volunteers who worked hard to process the applications. By increasing voter turnout, we're helping to ensure that our elections remain fair and inclusive—so get ready to make your voices heard on 30 April.”
This increase is based on individuals who registered to vote between 2 October 2024 and 15 January 2025. The district of West Bay South is the largest electoral district, with 1,772 voters, followed closely by Bodden Town East (1,765 voters) and Bodden Town West (1,744 voters). Notably, West Bay South recorded the highest number of new voters during the registration period, adding 187 voters, and has seen a total increase of 235 voters since April 2021.
The fastest-growing district in percentage terms is North Side, which saw a 20.7% increase, growing from 836 voters in 2021 to 1,009 in 2025. East End experienced the second-highest growth, increasing by 17.2%, from 769 to 901 voters, followed by West Bay South, which grew by 15.3%, rising from 1,537 voters in 2021 to 1,772 in 2025. Conversely, the districts with the smallest growth over the past four years are George Town West (1.9%), George Town North (4.3%), and Cayman Brac West and Little Cayman (5.4%).
During the registration period, the Elections Office received 3,125 forms, comprising 1,998 new voter applications and 1,127 change of details or address forms. A number of the voter application forms were duplicates and some individuals who submitted forms did not meet the eligibility requirements to be a voter.
As the election approaches, the Elections Office strongly encourages all members of the public to check the official Register of Electors to ensure their name and address appear correctly. The list is available for review on the Elections Office website at elections.ky. If corrections are needed to any information that may be missing or inaccurate, individuals are encouraged to submit a claim or objection by 19 February 2025. Form 9 should be used for objections, and Form 7 should be used for claims. These forms can be downloaded from the Elections Office website and submitted in person or via email to office@elections.ky.
For those unable to vote in person, applications for mobile or postal voting are available on the Elections Office website. Voters who qualify for these options are encouraged to apply early.
With the General Election approaching, the Elections Office urges all eligible voters to educate themselves about the candidates and issues by attending community meetings and engaging in discussions. These forums provide valuable insights and help voters make informed decisions at the polls.
The Elections Office extends sincere appreciation to its Registering Officers, Office Staff, and support team, who worked tirelessly, often during evenings and weekends, to collect and process applications ahead of the deadline. Their dedication and commitment were instrumental in ensuring the successful completion of the revised list. The Office also thanks the voters for their participation in the democratic process, as well as the Ministry of Youth, Sports, & Heritage, the Youth Services Unit, and other organisations and individuals whose voter registration drives helped increase participation, particularly among young Caymanians.
Elections Supervisor Wesley Howell reaffirmed the importance of voter participation and maintaining the integrity of the electoral process, stating, "Voting is a civil duty and a fundamental part of democracy. Every vote matters. All voters should freely and independently decide which candidate to support, then exercise their right to vote, without coercion and responsibly. Selling votes is illegal and undermines the integrity of the electoral process."
The Elections Office looks forward to seeing strong participation in the General Election on 30 April 2025. Together, we uphold the strength and integrity of our democracy.
