The People’s Progressive Movement (PPM) is ushering in a new chapter for George Town South with a bold announcement that Barbara Conolly, the beloved member of parliament, is passing the torch to the next generation. She has proudly endorsed Craig Frederick, more popularly known as “Festa”, as the PPM's candidate for George Town South in the upcoming elections.

“After giving it much thought and consulting with my family, I have decided to retire from

representational politics. I believe the time has come to embrace a younger candidate with fresh ideas. ‘Festa’ is the right person to represent George Town South and has my full support. I will walk the streets with him—although they are already his streets since he lives in George Town South—so that our people can see what responsible transition looks like”, said Conolly.

Spending most of his life in Windsor Park, Craig is the perfect balance of deep community roots and an innovative approach to problem-solving. From founding iconic Caymanian events to working in the tourism sector both locally and internationally, Craig has the experience and vision to continue the PPM’s strong representation of the constituency.

“I have experienced our community's challenges firsthand and I am here to deliver common-sense solutions for the people and businesses of George Town South,” Craig said. “Barbara’s work has been monumental, and I am honored to continue her legacy while driving innovative solutions to tackle our biggest challenges.”

Joseph “Joey” Hew, Leader of the Opposition, highlighted the significance of this transition. “Barbara has been an anchor of stability and leadership for George Town South, and her willingness to mentor and uplift Craig speaks volumes about her dedication. Their partnership embodies the core values of the PPM—harnessing fresh energy and guiding it with seasoned wisdom for the benefit of all Caymanians. This is more than just the passing of a baton; it is the PPM's commitment to continued evolution.

PPM’s record of economic growth, job creation, and sustainable development, combined with Craig’s commitment to George Town South provides the perfect pairing for the continued high-quality representation the constituents have grown accustomed to. As the PPM continues to evolve, its unwavering focus remains on ensuring that economic growth benefits every Caymanian. Craig Frederick is an entrepreneur who graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing.

Before transforming Cayman’s event landscape, Craig was a scholar inspired by visionaries like Norman Bodden and Kurt Tibbets. Awarded the Cayman Prep and Ministry of Tourism scholarships, his dedication to progress runs deep. That same passion drives his commitment to represent George Town South, blending cultural pride with bold leadership for a stronger future.
