The Cayman Islands Customs and Border Control Service (CBC) have confirmed that a total of 31 Cuban migrants arrived in Cayman Brac on Friday morning, 13 December 2019.

Officials report that the migrants had been at sea for approximately five days, but were unable to continue onwards due to a lack of supplies and trouble with their engine.

The group, which consists of 30 males and one female, will be transferred from Cayman Brac to the CBC Detention Centre in Grand Cayman.

CBC teams from both Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac responded to the arrival of the migrants, and are working to meet all their safety, health and welfare needs.
