The Department of Environmental Health (DEH) collected approximately 100 tons of bulk waste following the completion of its annual collection schedule in the Sister Islands, on December 14, 2022.
For an entire week, DEH crews worked assiduously to beautify both islands with the cooperation of residents who piled these items on the curbside. Additionally, 10 derelict vehicles were identified and removed.
The conclusion of this clean-up exercise in the Cayman Brac and Little Cayman brings to end the DEH Annual Bulk Waste Collection schedule for the Cayman Islands. A four week schedule was designed for Grand Cayman where a total 522.42 tons of bulk waste & vegetation were collected, in addition to 115.91 tons of metal.
Residents are reminded that following the completion of the collection schedule, arrangements should be made by individuals to transport any additional waste to the landfills. Any illegal dumping and littering should be reported to the DEH or the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS). This unlawful practice can result in a penalty of 6 months of imprisonment and a minimum fine of $500.
