The Garden Playschool Group, known for its nurturing, play-based approach to early childhood education at Sprogs Garden Playschool in South Sound, announces the opening of its second location, Kiddiewinks Garden Playschool, in West Bay.

Opening for the 2025-2026 school year, Kiddiewinks will offer the Group’s signature play-based curriculum while introducing a dedicated Spanish Immersion programme. Designed for children aged 12 months to five years, the new playschool is now accepting applications and promises to provide a unique and enriching learning environment.

The new state-of-the-art Kiddiewinks facility is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, where the environment is seen as “the third teacher.” Carefully designed to encourage exploration, creativity, and discovery, the playschool features serene indoor spaces that are clean, organised, and welcoming, with plush décor, natural timber finishes, vibrant plants, and soft ambient lighting. Its expansive outdoor environments have been carefully curated for creative free play, with safe climbing areas, outdoor worktables, green spaces, and an organic vegetable garden.

“We strive to create a home-away-from-home where nature, nurture, and play come together to support every child’s growth,” says Carrie Chaloner, Owner and Director of The Garden Playschool Group. “Our goal is to foster personal, social, and emotional development, helping children grow into confident, empathetic, and capable individuals.”

Both Sprogs and Kiddiewinks will be overseen by Emily Harris, Head of School, alongside a Deputy Head who will split their time between the two locations. Each playschool will also have dedicated lead and senior practitioners for their Junior Toddler, Senior Toddler, Pre-School, and Reception programmes.

As part of Kiddiewinks’ Spanish Immersion programme, dedicated Spanish-speaking practitioners will give the children the same learning experience as their English counterparts, entirely in Spanish. This gives children the opportunity to absorb a new language with all of the cognitive benefits that this provides to young people.

“Our educators are experts in child development and masters at making learning fun,” says Harris. “We create inclusive environments where children thrive through play-based learning, driven by a deep commitment to inclusion and a passion for joyful, nurturing education.”

Both Sprogs and Kiddiewinks will continue to be Eco-Schools Green Flag-certified, and the only institutions in the Cayman Islands to hold the accreditation. This internationally recognised award highlights excellence in environmental action and learning.

“We empower children to become ambassadors for our planet,” says Jennifer Stein, Director of The Garden Playschool Group. “From energy conservation to waste management, our students learn valuable lessons about sustainability and healthy living.”

Kiddiewinks will offer flexible programme options, including full-day, half-day morning, and school-day schedules. Registration for the 2025-2026 school year is open while the playschool is undergoing the application process to be fully registered as an educational institution providing early childhood care and education and full-time compulsory education in a Year One equivalent class only in the Cayman Islands. Until approval is formally given for the educational institution to commence operations and open to students, parents and guardians of prospective students should be aware of the risks and are advised to plan accordingly.
