Police/Court

Shortly after 2:00PM on Tuesday, 26 December, officers conducting foot patrols along the beach north of Seven Mile Public Beach detected a strong scent of ganja coming from a group of individuals.

Officers conducted searches under the Misuse of Drugs Act, and recovered a quantity of illegal substances, suspected to be ganja. A 19-year-old man from East End and a 20-year-old woman from Bodden Town were arrested on suspicion of possession and consumption of ganja. Additionally, the man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon after officers found a knife on his person.

A further search of a nearby vehicle linked to one of the arrested individuals resulted in the recovery of more illegal substances, suspected to be ganja along with drug paraphernalia.

The arrested individuals have been granted bail as investigations continue.
