On Friday 21 February, 2020, RCIPS responded to an incident that took place at Coral Beach located on West Bay Road. It was reported that a 65-year-old-man of West Bay, who is also a public figure in the Cayman Islands, was behaving disorderly and assaulted a staff member present at the location. The RCIPS conducted an investigation and the completed casefile was submitted to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution for a legal ruling, where a decision was made for charges to be laid.
Today, Friday 24 April, the public figure was charged with three (3) counts of Common Assault and one (1) count of Disorderly Conduct under the Liquor License Law.
He appeared in court today and was bound over by the court to appear again on 15 May, 2020.
