West Bay Man Charged with Six Offenses, 20 April

West Bay Man Charged with Six Offenses, 20 April

A 43-year-old-man from West Bay was charged with six(6) offense following an incident that took place in the West Bay district on Friday, 17 April.

Officers were on patrol when they came upon a small gathering at a residence and stopped to speak with the parties present about social distancing. The 43-year-old-man, who was also present at the location, tried to leave the residence, stating that he was going home. Officers informed him that if he did so he would be in breach of the hard curfew. Against the advice of the officer’s the man left the location.

The officers followed the man home and informed him further of the offenses he committed. The man became disgruntled and brandished a machete at the officers, while threatening their lives and attempting to attack them. One of the officers present deployed his taser and the man was subdued and arrested, after which he was taken into custody and held pending further investigation.

The man has since been charged with Threats to Kill, three (3) counts of Causing Fear or Provocation of Violence, Disorderly Conduct and Breach of Curfew. The man appeared in court today via video link where he was further remanded in custody.
