10 AM UPDATE – TROPICAL STORM DELTA - Monday October 5th, 2020:

A Tropical Storm Warning continues for the Cayman Islands.

ABOUT 265 MI... ESE OF GRAND CAYMAN

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS...45 MPH... KM/H

PRESENT MOVEMENT...W OR 290 DEGREES AT 7 MPH...11 KM/H

MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE...1002 MB...29.59 INCHES

Today:

Partly cloudy skies with a 30% chance of showers this morning becoming cloudy to overcast by late afternoon with a 70% chance of widely scattered showers and thunder.  Shower may become locally heavy at times from this evening.  Flooding in low lying areas are expected from this evening.

2 to 4 inches of rainfall are expected for the Cayman Islands

Winds are expect to be from the east to northeast at 10 to 15 knots with higher gusts for Grand Cayman and from the east to northeast 15 to 20 knots with higher gusts for the Sister Islands becoming east to northeast 15 to 20 knots with higher gusts for Grand Cayman and east to southeast 20 to 25 knots with higher gusts by this evening for the sister islands.

Seas are expected to be moderate to rough with wave heights of 3 to 5 feet this morning increasing to 5 to 7 feet by this evening over Grand Cayman… for the Sister Islands expect rough seas  with wave heights of 4 to 6 feet  increasing to 6 to 8 feet by this evening.  All craft should seek and remain in safe harbor from this afternoon until further notice.

Monday night:

Cloudy to overcast skies with a 80% chance of showers and thunder from early this evening becoming overcast with heavy showers and thunder from midnight.  Showers may become extremely intense in and around heavy showers. Flooding in low lying areas will continue.

2 to 4 inches of rainfall are expected over Grand Cayman

1 to 2 inched of Rainfall are expected over the Sister Islands.

Winds over Grand Cayman are expected to be easterly 15 to 20 knots this evening increasing to 30 to 40 knots by midnight and veering to the south to southwest at 40 to 50 knots with higher gusts by early morning.

Sister Islands can expect east to southeast at 20 to 25 knots with higher gusts this evening increasing and veering to the southeast at 25 to 30 knots with higher gusts by early morning.

Seas for Grand Cayman can expected rough with wave heights of 5 to 7 feet this evening increasing to 10 to 15 feet or higher by midnight….Seas  for Sister Islands can expected rough with heights of 6 to 8 feet increasing to 10 to 12 feet  by midnight. All craft should remain in safe harbor until further notice.
