East End and North Side residents now have an additional day to be seen by doctors at the Health Services Authority’s (HSA) district health centres in their respective communities.
The Physicians Clinic at the East End Health Centre has expanded its schedule to include Wednesdays from 9 am to 4 pm, in addition to its existing hours: Mondays from 1 pm to 4 pm and Thursdays from 9 am to 4 pm. Similarly, the North Side Health Centre has added Thursdays from 9 am to 1 pm to its current schedule, which includes Tuesdays and Fridays from 9 am to 4 pm.
This expanded service to the eastern districts follows HSA’s improved offerings to communities outside George Town. The HSA initiated additional clinic hours in July at its Bodden Town Health Centre.
Dr. Samuel Williams-Rodriguez, HSA’s Director of Primary Healthcare Services, noted that “it's part of the HSA’s vision to have accessible and adequate healthcare across all communities. With the population growth and the dispersion of residents to communities outside George Town, we are demonstrating foresight to allow for improved access to care.”
With the introduction of new services, district health centres continue to play a key role in the HSA’s network, providing opportunities for enhanced routine care.
“Additionally, our services have expanded to meet the growing needs of the community. Therefore, these extended times will improve doctor-patient interactions with a focus on ensuring that our patients experience positive outcomes,” stated Dr. Williams-Rodriguez.
