With the round robin complete, all 8 teams in the Camana Bay Corporate Indoor Volleyball League will be advancing onto the playoffs scheduled to start on Wednesday, February 19th at 6:30 pm. Having played 7 games each, and attended practices led by CIVF coaches, some of the teams are feeling much more confident going into the elimination round now that they’ve worked out their kinks. Newcomers MUFG were particularly grateful for the practice sessions, as their team captain, Valentine Ball, noted: “Everyone who participated in the skills sessions found them extremely useful as it allowed the new players to understand the basics of indoor volleyball.”
With the round robin complete, KPMG finished comfortably in first place with an impressive record of 7 victories, of which they only lost two sets. Team captain Davison Ruwende is very mindful not to allow KPMG’s early success to go to their heads, as he stated: “It’s not how you start the league that matters, but it’s how you finish. I am feeling very strong and confident, but we are not going to be complacent.” Three time defending champions MaplesFS had a slow start to the league, with 3 wins and 4 losses, but their team captain, Nadish Seebaluck, is still hopeful as he stated: “With a new team this time around, each game we have played has made us better and we are looking forward to ending the tournament in style.”
Judging from the narrow margins in the standings, with many teams separated by one point differential, the playoffs are bound to be extremely competitive.
