The Cayman Brac Fire Service donated four bicycles to the top boys and girls of the Spot Bay and Creek primary and the West End primary schools in Cayman Brac. Each student received the gift during school graduations on 27 June 2022.
Top girl Lei’a Grizzel and Top Boy Kaiden Stewart from the West End Primary School, Samaya Ritch and Ryan Judister from the Spot Bay and Creek Primary School were the recipients.
Brac CIFS Divisional Manager, Mr Witney Tatum commented: “This is an initiative we have done for the last 25 years, beginning with the first presentation by retired CIFS Officer Larry Bryan in 1998.”
He continued: “It’s always so encouraging to see the kids deliberating about who will be the top boy and girl when their names are announced and their smiles say it all. Before each presentation, I address the importance of good education, studying hard and being respectful. Through such initiatives, we want the real sense of community found here in Cayman Brac to thrive.”
Acting Chief Officer for Ministry of Home Affairs Julian Lewis commented, “Community support and representation is at the core of what we strive for under the Ministry of Home Affairs. Having a strong sense of community is key to enhancing resiliency and public safety. This a great initiative being spearheaded by the Cayman Brac CIFS team to support the young in the Brac and within the wider community.”
