On Thursday and Friday (5-6 February), primary schools across Cayman Brac and Little Cayman came together to host the annual Cayman Brac & Little Cayman Inter-Primary School Sports Day with students from each school competing in either of two houses-the Hornets and the Chargers.

The event, held at the Cayman Brac Sports Complex, showcased the athletic prowess of students from Creek & Spot Bay Primary (CSBPS), West End Primary School (WEPS) and Little Cayman Education Services (LCES).

At the end of day two, defending champions, the Hornets, emerged as winners after amassing 637 points compared to rival house, Chargers 596 points.

Cristiano Ritch and Marsee Walton both emerged Division Two and Junior Champions while Antoniel McDonald, and Jairon McCoy were selected as Division 4 and Senior Champions.

Other medalists included Division One Champions Jodain Brown and Deah Tatum as well as Division Three Champions Lavina Fredricks and Kaiden Stewart.

CSBPS Principal Claudette Lazzari expressed gratitude to the various stakeholders on behalf of participating schools. “Thanks to everyone who took part in making this day an enjoyable and safe event. Special thanks to the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service, the Health Services Authority Ambulance Service, the Public Works Department for setting up as well as coaches and interns from the Sports Department.”

Ms. Lazzari also thanked her school’s PTA for refreshment sales and staff and colleagues from all the Sister Island Primary Schools for their usual cooperation.

Minister for Education, Youth, Sports, Agriculture & Land Hon. Juliana O’Connor Connolly and Parliamentary Secretary Hon. David Wight attended the event and assisted with the presentation of medals.

The event received wide support from parents and members of the wider community, several of whom participated in the Adult Baton Race.
