The Cayman Islands Customs and Border Control confirms the arrests of two American nationals, Jelena Noura Hadid and Leah Nicole McCarthy for the importation of marijuana and importation of utensils used for the consumption of marijuana, on 10 July 2023.

The two females, who arrived on a private aircraft to the Cayman Islands from the United States were arrested following a search of their luggage, and a small amount of marijuana was recovered. Both parties appeared in Summary Court on 12 July and were charged with the importation of a controlled drug and the importation of a drug utensil. They entered guilty pleas and were fined CI $1,000.00 and no conviction was recorded.
