Mr. Cameron will be succeeded as general manager by Lester Purvis, effective 1st September. Mr. Purvis was appointed assistant general manager in May of 2021.
John Cameron joined CG BritCay as property and commercial manager in 1993, and was subsequently promoted to assistant general manager, assuming his current role in 2015.
During his tenure, he steered the company through Hurricanes Ivan, Paloma and Irma, a rebrand, digital transformation and numerous other growth projects. He has also been a longstanding member of the Cayman Island Insurance Association and became its president in 2014.
With more than 50 years industry experience, Mr. Cameron has worked in the UK and several Caribbean jurisdictions including Jamaica and the Bahamas before adopting the Cayman Islands as his home.
“It has been my pleasure and honour to serve as general manager, and I am exceptionally proud of how much the team has grown,” noted Mr. Cameron.
“I am delighted to hand the reins over to Lester, who has worked with CG BritCay in senior management roles for over a decade and brings more than 25 years industry experience to his new post.”
Mr. Purvis joined CG BritCay in September 2007 and has held several positions within CG BritCay including claims manager, claims and motor manager, and most recently, assistant general manager. His tenure at CG BritCay has positioned him well for the role of general manager.
“On behalf of the CG BritCay Board of Directors, I wish to thank John for his 29 years of dedicated service,” said CG BritCay Board Chairman Charles Kirkconnell.
“John has led the company diligently, with integrity and a steady hand, achieving both strong financial performance and reinforcing CG BritCay’s position as a leading player in the local insurance industry.”
He added, “Lester has the full support of the board as he begins this next chapter as general manager for the company. He is well known to the community and an excellent leader.”
Naz Farrow, CEO for the Coralisle Group Ltd. (CG), notes "John Cameron has made a significant impact at CG BritCay these past three decades. He has driven immense growth for the organization, while prioritizing the company's identity and values.
“John believes in putting people first and leading with empathy and transparency. The CG Board and I would like to thank John for his hard work, vision and dedication."
