Public Health has issued the COVID-19 Situational Report for Epidemiological, or Epi., Week 11 (13 -19 March) tonight, Wednesday 23 March 2022. During Epi. Week 11, there were 207 new cases of COVID-19 reported by Public Health. This was two cases more than were reported in the previous Epi. Week (6 -12 March).
Unfortunately, another unvaccinated patient died during Epi. Week 11 (13 – 19 March 2022). The Cayman Islands has reported a total of 24 COVID-19 related deaths since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020.
Officials noted that 1,253 tests were conducted in Epi Week 11 compared 1,162 tests in Epi.Week 10 and 1,429 tests in Epi.Week 9.
During Epi. Week 11, there were 13 hospital inpatients going through the two main hospitals in the Cayman Islands (Health Services Authority and Health City Cayman Islands). Thirty-three percent of admissions were vaccinated.
