Cricket Square announces the launch of its dedicated bus service, the Cricket Square Express, providing tenants with an alternative to their daily commute. Starting Monday Cricket Square tenants who live East of George Town can use the Cricket Square Express to get to and from work. Initially, the bus service will start out East from Spotts Dock via Grand Harbour and South Sound Dock and onto Cricket Square. In addition, children who attend either Cayman Prep & High School or St Ignatius Catholic School can also hop on the bus with their parent and be dropped off at school. The comfortable air-conditioned buses also provide free WiFi onboard so passengers can catch up on work, read the news or just relax and enjoy a stress-free journey to and from work. Jeremy Superfine, Operations Manager at Orchid Development explained, “With an increased demand for parking spots, the heavy traffic coming in from the eastern districts and the environmental concerns, we were keen to provide our tenants with an alternative to driving in every day. We surveyed our tenants to find out where they lived and if they would be interested in a bus service. The response was really positive, so we ran a trial in March in conjunction with the Government’s Car Free Week and have decided to roll it out.” One Cricket Square Express passenger, Katrina Ebanks who works at the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority raved about the new service; “I’m amazed at how relaxed I felt coming into work this morning, I didn’t realise the positive impact this would have on my wellbeing”. Jeremy Superfine added, “We will adapt our schedule and service depending on the demand and uptake for the service. We’re open to all options that help reduce traffic and the demand for parking.”
In addition to the Cricket Square Express, Cricket Square has also secured other means of transport for their tenants to utilise during the working day for running errands or to go to external meetings; The Bird electric scooters and Cayman Cycles are now located on-site and plans are afoot to provide solar powered electric car charging stations for tenants and visitors to use. “The Cricket Square Express is another sign of our commitment to well-being for our tenants”, added Clarence ‘King’ Flowers, Managing Director at Orchid Development. “We are focused on corporate wellness and our tenants already enjoy The Club, an exclusive world-class corporate fitness and wellness facility on-site, featuring a yoga garden, personal trainers and fitness classes; an array of healthier food choices using seasonal and fresh local ingredients on our menus at The Market, The Brasserie, The Caboose and The Wicket and now the opportunity to enjoy a stress-free journey to work. Achieving a balanced and healthy lifestyle during the busy working week just got a little easier”.
