At 9:30 am on Friday, August 20, 1131 of our customers are without power. While the majority of our 31 thousand customers have electricity, customers in some areas across the island are still without electricity. CUC’s crews have worked into the night to restore the majority of the 2,159 customers who were without power last evening. The crews have been working around the clock since Wednesday evening and will continue to do so to ensure that all customers get their power restored.
The crews will systematically address each of the areas where there is no power and work to complete the remaining repairs throughout the course of today and into the night.
The main areas impacted are East End, Beach Bay, Omega Drive in Prospect and Garden Retreat.
We anticipate that power will be restored to all customers by midnight tonight.
We continue to receive calls for isolated outages in homes where there may be a medical concern and we have been responding to those cases as well.
Customers are reminded that if your property requires repairs such as a damaged weather head, please contact a licensed electrician. Please do not attempt repairs yourself as such equipment could cause electrocution.
Please check restoration times on our Outage map on the CUC website at www.cuc-cayman.com. In the event that the Outage map fails, we will produce an alternative outage restoration report to share with customers. We will also continue to provide updates on our social media platforms and through the local media outlets.
Call our Outage hotline at 945-1282 to report an outage and 911 to report downed power lines or any electrical safety issues.
CUC thanks you for your patience and understanding.
CUC reminds you to stay away from downed power lines and to exercise caution while on the roads.
