The Department of Education Services (DES) reminds students seeking to participate in the Dual Enrollment Programme about the process for accessing that educational pathway.
"In the first instance, students are provisionally accepted into the Dual Enrollment Programme based on their predicted grades. However, their external examination results will determine whether they are ultimately accepted to participate in the programme," said DES Director Mr. Mark Ray.
Students accepted into the Dual Enrollment Programme may pursue the first year of A-Level studies or the first year of an associate degree at the University College of the Cayman Islands (UCCI) while in Year 12.
Mr. Ray explained that as part of the process, Government high schools would distribute a DES-approved list of provisionally accepted students to UCCI and distribute Dual Enrollment forms to eligible students in early June, inviting them to submit completed forms to the Cayman Islands Further Education Centre (CIFEC) Director, Mr. Mark Seeratan for processing by 28 June.
The DES Director further stated, "Students hoping to pursue A-level studies through the Dual Enrollment Programme must apply directly to and gain acceptance into an institution that offers this course of study."
"Once formal acceptance is obtained from that institution, students must apply for an Education Council Post-Secondary scholarship via the Ministry of Education's Scholarship Secretariat Unit's online application portal."
Mr. Ray concluded that students who do not meet the Dual Enrollment requirements, or students who do meet the requirements but so desire, may pursue the Year 12 programme at CIFEC.
