The Ministry of Education recognised three outstanding Caymanian students at the 2024/2025 Government High School Scholarship (GHSS) Award Reception, held on 30 January celebrating the initiative’s slogan: Reach Your Full Potential.
The 2024/2025 Government High School Scholars include:
One of the most prestigious academic honours available to Caymanian students, the GHSS Award provides up to CI $100,000.00 per year for high-achieving government high school graduates to study at QS Top 100 universities. Now in its third year, the scholarship reflects the Ministry of Education’s commitment to fostering academic excellence, leadership, and community service.
MOE’s Acting Chief Officer, Ms. Lyneth Monteith, highlighted the scholarship’s impact:
" This initiative has further enabled us to empower many more of our students to pursue their full potential by emulating the lofty academic standards demonstrated by their high-achieving peers and, in so doing, ultimately raising the profile of our government schools."
Acting Deputy Chief Officer in the Ministry of Education, Mr. Elroy Bryan, speaking on behalf of the Honourable Premier, Juliana O’Connor-Connolly, reinforced its significance:
"The Government High School Scholar Award has the power to transform lives, offering access to a world-class education, invaluable networking opportunities, and top-tier learning facilities—without financial burden. More importantly, it equips our students to play a pivotal role in the continued success and prosperity of our nation."
Selected from a highly competitive pool of applicants, Sadie, Raphael, and Thalia’s achievements are a testament to their dedication, as well as the steadfast support of their families, teachers, and school communities.
