Holly McLean claimed victory in the first event in the 2024 Grant Thornton Summer Series. The tournament took place over three rounds between 13-20 July with a field of top local amateur golfers competing for official World Amateur Golf Ranking (“WAGR”) points and prizes at the North Sound Golf Club.

McLean won the overall division by one stroke over Giles Hobday who finished runner-up. Tracy Moore finished first in the senior division with Glenn Whewell claimed runner-up. In the non-ranked division, Todd Purton finished first with Clark Weatherall taking runner-up.

“A huge congratulations to all winners and runners-up. We saw a strong field of prominent local and international golfers, including our own Caymanian ambassador Holly McLean who claimed victory in the overall division,” says Greg O’Driscoll, Partner and Head of Asset Management and Business Development at Grant Thornton Cayman Islands. “We look forward to seeing our local golfers strengthen their official WAGR rankings throughout the series as part of our goal to develop sport in the Cayman Islands.”

The Cayman Islands Golf Association (“CIGA”) is thrilled to continue the Grant Thornton Summer Series for a third year with the support of Grant Thornton, Title Sponsor of CIGA. This official World Amateur Golf Ranking tournament series offers golfers the opportunity to earn or boost their official ranking and to play in a professional tournament format.
