The Department of Environmental Health (DEH) is advising the public of the early closure of the George Town Landfill operation on the public holidays to mark the Platinum Jubilee, the Queen's Birthday.
The George Town Landfill will be closing at 1:00 pm on Friday, 3 June 2022 (Queen’s Platinum Jubilee) and Monday, 6 June 2022 (Queen’s Birthday)resuming normal hours of operation on Wednesday, 7 June 2022. There will not be reception of derelict vehicles or scrap metals for disposal on this four-day weekend. Meanwhile, hours of operation will remain as usual at both landfills in the sister islands.
Regular garbage collection and recycling operations will be as normal through the Cayman Islands during the long weekend.
Members of the public are also encouraged to use the 24-hour drop-off site at the entrance of the George Town landfill which will remain open to facilitate the disposal of small amounts of waste from residential customers, if necessary.
