Government Information Services (GIS) Video Production Specialist Lenford Wilks knows a lot about delivering an outstanding customer experience, so much so that Deputy Governor Franz Manderson selected him to be the Cayman Islands Government Employee of the Month (EOM) for March 2021.
GIS Video Unit Manager Martin Wilkinson (currently on secondment to the Portfolio of the Civil Service) nominated Mr Wilks for the exceptional work he delivered during January, when the GIS Video Unit broadcasted three events for Heroes Day over the course of two days. Also among the reasons why Mr Wilks now wears an EOM pin was his agility in assisting the House of Parliament by setting up the video equipment for the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on short notice.
Cabinet Office Chief Officer Samuel Rose praised Mr Wilks for being customer centric as he presented the EOM with a Chief Officer’s Award, the first step in the Deputy Governor’s Award Programme.
During the Employee of the Month presentation, Mr Manderson applauded Mr Wilks for consistently demonstrating passion and enthusiasm in promoting the Cayman Islands Government’s work in a way that positively educates television audiences about the wide range of services provided across the Civil Service. Mr Manderson also acknowledged Mr Wilks for keeping up-to-date on the latest broadcast technologies, which is extremely important for his role.
During the EOM ceremony, Mr Manderson gave an account of Mr Wilks’ actions that led to him being selected as EOM for March.
“On National Heroes Day 2021, Mr Wilks’ technical knowledge enabled the Video Team to broadcast live to all three of Cayman’s television service providers and to the official Cayman Islands Government’s social media channels — all at the same time. This allowed viewers from all parts of the world to tune in. Even if they could not be there in person, they were able to see their family & friends receive their award live.”
Mr Wilks also worked outside of regular hours to arrange coverage for a scheduled three-day Public Accounts Committee (PAC) hearing, which included setting up the necessary connections to broadcast the PAC proceedings live on CIGTv. As a result of Mr Wilks’ passion for his role, he lived up to the core values that the Deputy Governor wishes to instil in all civil servants.
“Your commitment and dedication to Government Information Services, and ultimately the Cabinet Office, contributes to not only making it a world-class Unit, but to making the lives of those we serve better, and it is for these reasons that you were named ”Employee of the Month for March 2021,” Mr Manderson said.
