Shortly before 1:00AM, Tuesday 3 September, while police were conducting a vehicle stop on Bodden Town Road, a driver, having been asked for his identification and vehicle documents, became combative towards the officer.
The officer attempted to arrest the individual, at which time he tried to drive away causing the officer to fall to the ground. The driver and a passenger then exited the vehicle, and advanced on the officer, in attempts to assault him, causing the officer to deploy his pepper spray.
The suspect then fled the scene in his vehicle, where he proceeded to lose control causing the vehicle to flip and come to a stop in nearby bushes. The man, a 23-year-old of East End, was arrested for assaulting an officer, giving false details, and careless driving, and was transported to the detention center.
The officer was transported by ambulance to the hospital for assessment, and later released.
