At about 11:40AM on Tuesday, 22 March, officers on patrol on Creek Road in Cayman Brac approached a man who was wanted for offenses committed in Grand Cayman. Officers attempted to arrest the man, however he began to behave in a disorderly manner and resisted arrest while holding a knife which he had been carrying on his person. Officers were able to disarm the man, age 48 of George Town, and arrested him on suspicion of theft and handling stolen goods.
The man suffered minor injuries during the incident and was treated by medical personnel. One of the officers involved was also injured and attended Faith Hospital, was treated, and subsequently discharged.
The man was further arrested for resisting arrest and assaulting police. He has been transported to Grand Cayman, and remains in custody as investigations continue.
