Shortly before 12:30AM on Thursday, 31 December, 2020, officers responded to a report of an altercation involving multiple persons outside a bar on Smith Road. However, on the officers arrival, the parties involved had left the location. Later the same morning, a man who had been assaulted with a machete during the altercation attended the George Town Police Station with injuries.
On 12 January, 2021, a man, age 35 of George Town, was arrested on suspicion of Assault ABH in relation to the incident. He has been granted bail with conditions as investigations continue.
