It was a celebratory occasion, as Honourable Johany Jay Ebanks, MP and Minister of Planning, Agriculture, Housing, Infrastructure, Transport and Development, senior government officials, the board and members of staff of the National Housing Development Trust (NHDT) and community members, broke grounds for the West Bay Affordable Housing Initiative Development. The development will consist of sixty (60) homes that have been thoughtfully designed with both aesthetics and functionality in mind.
The initial phase of the West Bay Affordable Housing Initiative Development will be comprised of fourteen (14) lots, which will include eleven (11) three-bedroom and three (3) two-bedroom homes. The future homes have already received planning subdivision approval and they will feature modern designs, as well as additional amenities that have been carefully selected to enhance comfort and convenience. The homes will also be energy-efficient, ensuring that they are not only cost-effective, but also environmentally responsible.
"This development is more than just about building homes; it's about creating opportunities and improving the lives of families in our country. We are committed to ensuring that everyone has the chance to own a home that they can be proud of," added the Minister.
The development is expected to have a positive impact on the community by increasing the availability of affordable housing and helping to address the housing needs of Caymanian citizens. It is also expected to boost the local economy and create a sustainable future for all.
"We are building more than homes; we are building a stronger, more resilient society. Here in West Bay, we are laying down the stones of possibility, stability and prosperity," stated the Minister.
The Minister wishes to thank the NHDT, partners and stakeholders for their dedication to the continued execution of this project. The Minister remains committed to creating more opportunities for more Caymanians to access affordable housing.
