Three community organisations engaged in feeding programmes geared toward the children have been given much needed financial support.

The three charities – Meals on Wheels, Feed our Future and Cayman Islands Food Bank all got various levels of support recently from CIBC FirstCaribbean.  Meals on Wheels received KYD $4,000, Feed Our Future, KYD $3,000 and Cayman Islands Food Bank, KYD $4,000.

Feed Our Future Chairperson Stacey Vandevelde stated, “"Through our work in the school communities it is known that hunger stands in the way of many children having access to adequate nutrition to live up to their full potential.  This has become even more pronounced during these challenging times as we are finding that more and more families are struggling with hunger.  We are most thankful to our generous corporate partner CIBC FirstCaribbean for their continued support of our meal programmes and the lifeline this offers to those more vulnerable in our community.”

“On behalf of the Board of  Directors and the volunteers of the Cayman Food Bank, a big thanks to CIBC FirstCaribbean for their recent donation of CI$4,000 to the Cayman Food Bank. The funds allowed us to give more to the public during this time of crisis, as our operations went from 400 people per month to 3,000 per month in groceries distribution, plus monthly meal deliveries in excess of 5,000 per month,” added Cayman Food Bank Operations Manager Phillip Hyre.

Shadden McLaughlin, EA to the Managing Director said, “As a corporate partner to organizations who are on the frontlines of the response efforts, CIBC FirstCaribbean is in a unique position to respond to the COVID-19 crisis, ensuring these programs can continue to provide a critical source of nutrition for children and families”

“Even in these challenging and uncertain times, one thing we all know for sure is that food is essential for every single person. These organizations understand the scale of what is truly happening within the community and have access to the infrastructure to respond in times of emergency. CIBC FirstCaribbean is committed to continuing our service to our region’s kids, families, and all who may need help in the days and weeks ahead of us,” she added.
