The National Trust for the Cayman Islands held its annual general meeting on Wednesday, September 16th at the George Town Yacht Club where Members cast their vote for the 2020/21 Council. Despite some Members choosing to avoid attending due to Covid-19, the AGM still had an impressive turnout with many also choosing to submit their vote by proxy. The two Officer positions up for election this year were the National Trust Chair and Secretary with a further ten nominees running for nine General Council positions. Andrew Gibb and Cathy Frazier both were required to stand down as they had reached their term limits under the National Trust Bye-Laws. Olson Anderson was elected as the new National Trust Chairman with Zoe Foster elected for a second term as Secretary. The nine general council members elected are: Joannah Bodden Small, Patricia Bradley, Melanie Carmichael, Lisa-Ann Hurlston-McKenzie, Cora Grant-James, Dan Peterson, Gina Powell, Chris Randall and Hannah Reid. District Committee Chairs were elected three weeks prior to the AGM and they are: - Gregory McTaggart (Little Cayman), Alice Mae Coe (West Bay), Suzan Merren (George Town), Debra Vascik (Cayman Brac). The Bodden Town AGM will be taking place in the coming month. The new Council is scheduled to meet for the first-time in mid-October with new committees being formed forthwith. We thank all our valued Members for their ongoing support. To learn more about the 2020/21 Trust Council members, visit nationaltrust.org.ky
