Newlands Man Arrested in Anti-Corruption Commission Investigation

Newlands Man Arrested in Anti-Corruption Commission Investigation

On Wednesday 24 April 2019 Anti-Corruption Commission Investigators, supported by Officers from the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service, arrested an individual in connection with an ongoing investigation and previous arrests made on 12 October 2017, 9 May 2018, and 25 June 2018.

Responsible for investigating serious allegations of corruption the Investigators arrested the 55 year old male, from the Newlands area, on suspicion of committing the following offences:

  1. Bribery of a public officer, contrary to s.10 of the Anti-Corruption Law;
  2. Fraud on the Government, contrary to s.11 of the Anti-Corruption Law; and
  3. Breach of trust, contrary to s.13 of the Anti-Corruption Law.

The male is not a public officer and was released on bail pending further enquiries.
