The Utility Regulation and Competition Office (OfReg) announces today, 25 February 2022, that Malike Cummings, OfReg's Chief Executive Officer, has accepted another opportunity outside of the jurisdiction.
According to Mr. Rudy Ebanks, chairman of the board of directors of OfReg, the board has been working closely with the outgoing CEO to ensure OfReg's day-to-day business continues until an interim CEO can be identified.
Speaking about his departure, Cummings said:
“I accepted the CEO position with OfReg because it presented a great opportunity to be part of a team that was tasked with bringing regulation of our various sectors under one roof. It was a challenge, and one that I relished. I am happy with the progress that we have made, and of the numerous initiatives we have successfully delivered upon in such a short period of time. I am very proud of the team and I wish them every success as they continue to strengthen the regulatory regime in support of all of our stakeholders, especially consumers.”
“Cayman is a wonderful place to live and work. My family and I will always treasure our time here, and we pray God’s continued blessings on these islands,” Cummings added.
Speaking on behalf of the Board of Directors, Mr. Ebanks thanked Mr. Cummings for his tenure and expressed his appreciation for Mr. Cummings’ leadership of the organisation. “OfReg has accomplished much under Malike’s stewardship. It was a pleasure to serve with him on the Board, and we wish him every success in his future endeavors.”
OfReg will shortly begin the process of identifying an interim CEO and selecting a successor CEO for the organisation.
