(DOT) - As a tourism destination, the Cayman Islands ranks as one of the top Caribbean countries for many reasons--a diverse three island paradise, the Caymankindness of the people, the stunning beaches and marine life, and exceptional culinary offerings are just a few. International visitors have enjoyed the dynamic offerings year over year, but with the cessation of tourism in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in March, and now the recent reopening of the economy due to the successful suppression of the virus in the country, the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism (CIDOT) has released a three-part video series to encourage all residents to rediscover 'Our Cayman'.

"Annually, our team at CIDOT is mandated to strategically position and market our beautiful country globally, to appeal to travellers to choose the Cayman Islands for their sun, sand, and sea vacation. While we continue to do so through a variety of measures throughout the pandemic, we also want to support the domestic tourism experience by utilising our marketing assets to visually showcase the wonders of our home to those locals and residents who may not have previously experienced a 'staycation'," shared Mrs. Rosa Harris, Director of Tourism. "In tourism, there is a move to have visitors 'live like a local' while on vacation, but now we would like to encourage our local community to see and experience our beautiful country through the visitor's lens, and be reminded of the many reasons why people choose the Cayman Islands. This is the time to support the many tourism-related businesses and restaurants who facing challenging times because of the closing of our borders, and to take this no-travel period to enjoy the wonders of our Cayman Islands for themselves."

The video series features local musicians, culinary delights, experiences and more.  All are encouraged to view and share the videos, which can be found on the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism's YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/user/CaymanTourism. International versions of the video series will also be released to encourage future travelers to keep the Cayman Islands top of mind when planning future vacations.
