Just after 6PM, Saturday 15 February, police and other emergency services were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communication Centre to Fort Street, where it was reported that there was an incident where two persons who were working on a building on Fort Street in George Town were trapped in a lift.

Police officers along with the Cayman Islands Fire Service attended the location and as the fire service attempted to rescue the individuals, police assisted with ensuring that the area was clear for pedestrians and motorist alike. Emergency medical services were also at the location on standby to assist where needed.

Both persons were able to be removed from the lift without injury and the area was cleared.

The RCIPS would like to thank the members of the public and the other emergency services for their assistance.
