Police/Court

Just after 8:25PM on Saturday 14 August, police responded to a report on West Bay Road in the vicinity of Safehaven Drive. It was reported that a woman, while walking in the direction of West Bay, was approached by two men in a white utility type vehicle. The men demanded that she got into their vehicle and made attempts to grab her.

The victim managed to escape their attempts at abducting her after being assisted by a man and a woman who were passing by. The couple saw the exchange and engaged the perpetrators in an effort to assist the victim and the perpetrators in turn, returned to their vehicle and sped off in the direction of West Bay. The victim was uninjured during the exchange. She was offered further assistance by the couple who stopped but declined and they left the location.

This incident is being investigated by the police and detectives are eager to speak with the man and woman who assisted the victim on the evening of the incident, as well as any other person who may have seen what happened, or anyone who can assist with identifying the two perpetrators. The men were described as being masked but appeared to have dark brown skin, and are slim build. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the George Town Police Station at 949-4222.
