Shortly before 8:00PM on Wednesday, 3 May, officers responded to a report of an attempted robbery in West Bay, on Mount Pleasant Road in the vicinity of Mount Close. The bus driver had stopped to let off two men who had been picked up along West Bay Road, and who were the last passengers on the bus. Once the bus was stopped, one of the men held a knife to the driver and demanded cash. The driver resisted and drove the bus forward before stopping abruptly, forcing the man out of the bus. Both men then fled on foot along Mount Close.
The driver received a cut to the face during the struggle. Emergency services attended the location and provided medical assistance on the scene.
The suspect who brandished the knife is described as being short in height, of dark complexion and slim build. He had short dreads and was wearing a dark shirt.
The other suspect is also described as being short in height, also of slim build with short dreads. He was wearing a bright-coloured shirt.
Both men are described as being in their early 20s.
The matter is currently under investigation and anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or seen anything suspicious in the area around the time the incident occurred, is asked to contact West Bay CID at 949-3999.
