Police/Court

Just before 9 PM on Saturday 8 February, Police were dispatched by 9-1-1 Communications Centre to a report of a robbery that took place in the Windsor Park area of George Town.

It was reported that a delivery driver attended a location to deliver food when he was approached by two men who assaulted him. The victim was also attacked by dogs that were present in the area.

During the exchange, the victim escaped being attacked and was able to call for help. The men involved in the incident made off on foot in an unknown direction.

The Department of Agriculture was contacted and they located and retrieved one of the dogs involved in the incident.

This is the second incident of this kind so far this year, and police are encouraging delivery drivers to exercise caution when making deliveries. A few precautions that can be taken include:

  • Be aware of your surroundings and carry a light with you if the area is dark.
  • If the location does not appear safe, call your customer to ensure that it is the right area and let them know that you are there.
  • Do not travel with a lot of cash on hand, instead hand over cash frequently and encourage cashless services from customers.
  • Ensure that your phone is always charged and programmed to call 9-1-1 while locked.

The incident is being investigated by the Criminal Investigations Department and anyone with information is being encouraged to call the George Town Police Station at 949-4222.
