Shortly after 1.15am this morning, police and other emergency services were dispatched by the 911 Communication’s Centre to a report of a single vehicle collision on Shamrock Road, in the vicinity of Tuckerman Lane, Bodden Town.
The Cayman Islands Fire Service officers who attended the scene extricated the two occupants from the vehicle, one 27 year old male and one 19 year old female both of Bodden Town. Both occupants were transported to the George Town hospital by ambulance with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Initial reports show that the vehicle was travelling east bound along Shamrock Road from George Town direction towards Savannah. On reaching the vicinity of Tuckerman Lane the driver appears to have lost control of the vehicle causing it to drift to the right side of the road. The vehicle collided into a retaining wall on the right side of the road and spun before coming to a stop.
As of 9am this morning, 30 October, the male is undergoing surgery and the female is in a stable condition.
