At about 1:45AM on Saturday, 22 June, officers on patrol in Bodden Town came upon a serious single vehicle collision on Shamrock Road, near Christian Berry Drive, involving a Honda Civic, where four persons were injured.

Officers from the Cayman Islands Fire Service and EMS staff also attended the scene and provided assistance. The four persons were subsequently transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital by ambulance, to be treated for what appear to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries. One person has since been discharged, while the others remain in hospital.

The matter is currently under investigation.

On 24 June the RCIPS commenced another targeted road safety campaign as part of its efforts to reduce serious injuries and fatalities on our roads, and encourage safe driving behaviours, in collaboration with the National Road Safety Strategy. The campaign will run through 7 July.

“We are taking this opportunity to remind road users to avoid unsafe driving behaviours such as speeding, distracted driving, driving without seatbelts, and, of course, driving under the influence,” says Chief Superintendent Brad Ebanks. “Accidents will happen, but taking these steps will help to reduce the frequency and severity of motor vehicle collisions on our roads.”
