Since Friday, 16 December, police have responded to a series of violent incidents that have been reported across Grand Cayman. Of the reports attended, three resulted in persons being seriously injured.
Just before 6PM on Friday, 16 December, police and other emergency services were dispatched to a residence off Seaview Road, where it was reported that a man had been chopped following an altercation with two other men. The victim was provided with first aid by the attending officers and was transported to the hospital by the ambulance.
The second incident took place just before 11:50PM on Friday, 16 December, where police were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communications Centre to a report that a male had been stabbed and had collapsed on the side of the road. It was reported that the incident took place at the Marquee Plaza in the vicinity of the Power Supply Bar. The victim was transported to the hospital by private vehicle prior to the officer’s arrival. He sustained serious injuries but is now believed to be in stable condition.
The third incident occurred at the Globe Bar located on Mary Street in George Town, where it was reported that just after 3:45PM on Sunday, 18 November, an altercation between two men at the bar resulted in one of the men being stabbed in the torso area of his body. The victim was transported to the hospital by private vehicle, where he was treated for serious injuries. He is believed to be stable at this time.
All three incidents are being investigated by the RCIPS and so far, no arrests have been made. Police are aware that there were witnesses to these incidents and investigators are encouraging anyone with information to call the George Town Police Station at 949-4222.
