Police Investigate Water Related Death

Shortly after 11.30AM, Wednesday 10 April, emergency services responded to a report of a person in distress in the ocean in the vicinity of Cemetery Beach, West Bay.

When police arrived on the scene they observed EMS and Fire conducting CPR on a man, lying on the beach.

It was reported that the man was snorkeling with friends, when they decided to return to shore, and he got into distress on the way in. Persons on the beach helped bring the man ashore and conducted CPR, before the emergency services arrived and took over.

The man was transported to the hospital by ambulance where the was subsequently pronounced deceased by the attending doctor.

The man, aged 72, was a visitor from Illinois, USA.
