Police Operation Leads to Four Arrests

On Thursday, 25 February, officers of various units within the RCIPS had cause to carry out an operation at a location between Shedden Road, McField Lane and Liberty Lane, George Town. When officers arrived at the location several men who were in the area ran and officers engaged in a foot chase.

Three men, aged 35, 23 and 21, of George Town, were arrested in relation to drug related offences and a fourth man age 34, also of George Town was arrested in relation to violation against his conditional release from HMP. All four arrests took place on McField Lane in George Town.

During the operation a police officer, while driving a service vehicle attempted to stop a vehicle in order to intercept one of the men who fled the location. On braking, the service vehicle skidded along a rough gravel surface and collided with a nearby house. The collision caused minor damage to the house, but major damage to the service vehicle. The driver and police passenger received minor injuries as a result.. The collision is being investigated by the Traffic and Roads Policing Unit.
