Police Respond to Domestic Disturbance Resulting in Police Vehicle Damaged in Hit and Run

Shortly before 12:30AM on Wednesday 9 October, police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at an address in Tropical Gardens, George Town.

On approaching the location, police officers observed a vehicle leaving the scene, travelling towards to police unit. The police unit activated their emergency lights and sirens and the vehicle, a yellow Honda Fit, initially slowed down, but then proceeded to speed off, and collided with the front of the police vehicle. Both vehicles became disabled with the police vehicle received extensive damage.

The driver of the Honda Fit decamped the vehicle and ran off. The police officers pursued the man on foot, but he was not located.

Both vehicles were removed from the scene, and the Honda Fit has been seized for evidential purposes.

One officer sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision.
