Police Respond to Two Serious MVA's Resulting in DUI Arrests

Shortly after 11.30PM, Friday 21 March, police, EMS and Fire were dispatched to a report of a head on collision involving two vehicles at the intersection of Stadium Drive and Birch Tree Hill Road, West Bay.

Both vehicles received major damage and all three persons involved were taken to the hospital by ambulance to receive treatment. The roadway was temporarily closed to enable officers to carry out their investigations.

The driver of one of the vehicles was released from hospital and subsequently arrested on suspicion of DUI. He is a 27-year-old of West Bay. A second occupant of the vehicle received serious but non-life threatening injuries and remains in hospital. The driver of the other vehicle was released from the hospital.

A few hours later, around 1:50AM Saturday 22 March, police and other emergency services responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on West Bay Road in the vicinity of Snooze Lane.

On arriving at the scene officers observed a male lying on the road with head injuries. He was transported to hospital to receive treatment. A portion of the roadway was blocked while officers carried out their investigations. The driver of the vehicle, a 21-year-old male of George Town, was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

The RCIPS Traffic and Road Policing Management Unit (TRPMU) are investigating both incidents and request that anyone that witnessed these incidents or may have information pertaining to either of them to please contact the TRPMU on 649-6254 , or call 911.
