Shortly before 11:00AM, Monday 12 March, officers and other emergency services were dispatched to a report on an unresponsive man at the South Terminal, George Town.
On arriving at the location, officers observed persons attending to a man who was receiving CPR aboard a Port Harbour Patrol boat. Emergency services transferred the man to an ambulance, and transported him to George Town Hospital, where the man was subsequently pronounced deceased by the attending doctor.
The man, a 72-year-old from Illinois, was a passenger aboard a visiting cruise ship.
Inquiries into the circumstances of the death are currently ongoing, but are not believed to be suspicious at this time.
