Police continue to investigate an incident that was reported on 17 December, regarding an altercation that happened at Seven Mile Public Beach which resulted in a man ending up in hospital for treatment for serious lacerations to his head and hand, requiring surgery.

“For this type of case, witnesses are vital in order for police to reach an evidential threshold for a charge to be made against a culprit”, says Detective Superintendent Peter Lansdown. “We thank those who have come forward, but we must build our case in order to have the best chance to achieve justice for the victim”.

Video footage circulated on social media at the time of the incident reveals that a number of people were in the vicinity at the time of the incident, some giving a commentary on events. Police encourage these persons to come forward and provide information to support the case.

Police request anyone who witnessed the incident to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 949-4222.
