Premier Hon. Wayne Panton issued a video message to the country this evening, addressing public concerns regarding the Cayman Islands’ increased rate of community transmission of COVID-19.

In his address, Premier Panton allayed residents’ anxieties and reaffirmed the Islands’ state of readiness and preparedness.

He thanked the community for its response to the Government’s vaccination drive and for adhering to isolation protocols while reminding everyone that personal responsibility will continue to be a key factor in curbing the spread of COVID-19 in the community.

The Premier gave special mention to the advent of community transmission in the Sister Islands of Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, and reassured residents there that all of Government’s support and resources are being made available to support them.

Premier Panton underscored the Government’s commitment to advancing with the Islands’ reopening plan on 20 November, addressed misinformation in the community coming from unofficial sources, and urged all residents to continue acting responsibly in their daily activities.

The Premier ended his message by saying, “I remain confident in the strength and resolve of the people of the Cayman Islands.  There are few places on earth better prepared for this stage of the pandemic.  Let us continue to work in a spirit of cooperation as we navigate this phase of our journey.”
